Well, now that I can't post from school I have to do it at home! Sorry it's been a few weeks!

This weeks homework is written in their agenda...yup we are finally using them. They have to use them in 3rd grade so we might as well start now!

They should be reading for 20 min every night! This is so important. The only way to become a better reader is to....READ! :)

Our story this week is "Hedgehog Bakes a Cake" and we are making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and then writing the directions. It's kind of hard for them to come up with the directions without skipping a step so on Wednesday they are going to use someone another student's directions to make another sandwich. This will be great because I know some left out the important things! Can't wait for this mess!

Homework For Week 8/22 - 8/27

Students have a homework calendar in their binder that needs to be signed daily. Also remember that your child may come home with a character reflection slip that needs to be signed. If a student recieves a reflection slip that means that they went to red sometime during the day. After they go to red and fill out the reflection they get to move back to green, however they may get a second red for the day. The students know if they get 3 reds in a day they have lunch detention. I want to make sure they the students realize that getting the character reflection to take home is like getting a red for the day.

On to homework!

Fluency page is in the binder somewhere. I noticed that students didn't put it where I suggested so you may have to move it! :)

Also tonight for homework they are writing their spelling words and sight words on the flash cards that I sent home in the baggie. They must have these every day with them.

Check the homework calendar in your child's binder. The calendar is for the whole month of Aug. We are really trying to drill those basics into our students this year, so we really want to focus on those math facts and sight words. I will be putting a sight word list in their binder some time this week. I didn't want to overwhelm everyone on the first homework day. Students can choose to study their spelling flash cards or do one of the spelling activities. We will be looking at some of the activities this week so that they know what they are all about. Fluency is very important! Please make sure to look for the passage in your child's binder and do the one minute read! We also talked about how reading for 20 min. a day is easy. It could be something you do as a family or right before bed. We did a little brainstorming on how we could get that 20 min. in!!!
